Does drinking water help you lose weight? The truth at last…


It’s nearly common knowledge: Drinking lots of water helps you lose weight.

Most people who want to lose weight actually want to lose body fat. Water is an essential element for health, but it does not burn fat.

For that matter, neither do any number of ‘fat burning’ foods, drinks, powders and pills. Your body fat will only burn fat  in one simple circumstance – a calorie deficit.

You can drink all the water you want, but if you’re not living day to day in a calorie deficit, you will not lose body fat. You can take all the popular fat burning pills and medication, too. In the absence of a calorie deficit, these will do NOTHING for you.

When your body has more than enough food energy every day, it has no reason to turn to fat stores for needed fuel. Adding extra water into the mix will not change a thing related to burning fat stores. Only a calorie deficit can throw your body into fat burning mode.

So, why drink water as part of a weight loss program?

Because water is essential to optimal functioning. Without adequate water supply, your liver, for example, will not process nutrients properly. And it won’t break down fat properly, either. The liver produces bile that allows the body to break down fats.

A dehydrated body contains thicker blood, which bogs down vital organs. Blood flows through your liver, delivering vital nutrients and oxygen for proper liver functioning. If the blood is too thick due to dehydration, the liver won’t function optimally.

When you need to break down fat, you want your liver to be up for the job. And THIS is the reason to drink adequate water.
